Governor Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday, commended Paragon Demonstration School for recording victory on the opening day of the ongoing Channels International Kids Cup, noting that the school had made the state proud.
Governor Obaseki disclosed this through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary saying he was particularly elated when news filtered into town that in one of the Group A matches, Paragon Demonstration School from Edo State got the better of X-Planter Primary School from Ikorodu in Lagos by a goal to nothing, courtesy a strike by Orobosa Aghahowa.
The statement said the governor was paying keen attention to the football tournament to discover talents that would facilitate his plans to revamp sports in the state by developing young talents.
In his words; “Governor Obaseki was delighted to hear that a school from Edo State came out tops in the opening day contest against another school from other state.
“It is a further indication that we have talents already in the state that we can groom. You can be rest assured that the state is paying keen attention to developments in the tournament,” he added.
